Quantum transport of single neutral atoms

The state-selective (quantum) transport of single neutral atoms stored in a one dimensional optical lattice is a promising technique to implement controlled atomic interaction using coherent cold collisions. This is required in several schemes of quantum information processing. Here, we present a technical implementation of the quantum transport scheme for one, two and more caesium atoms, as well as the manipulation and detection of their internal states.

In the excavated Padure (Beltes) hill-fort in Latvia, cultural layers from the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age (Stage 1), and the Middle Iron Age and the Late Iron Age (Stage 2), were detected, which, besides the archaeological material typical of that period, provided abundant zooarchaeological material. This article presents the investigation data from the zooarchaeological material of both stages: the data relate to the butchering techniques used, and the identification of the composition of the faunal species. It is a common opinion that Stalinist literature knew no explicitly popular genres, and that, consequently, its whole body can be regarded as popular culture. The case of Nikolai Shpanov is one of the most evident arguments against such an interpretation. From the late Thirties to the early Fifties, Shpanov's works, centered around the fight with fiendish spies, had huge print runs and conspicuous success among the readers; yet, Soviet critics nearly ignored them. The publishing channels were not those of the officially endorsed "classics" of Socialist Realism, but rather what can be regarded as a Soviet equivalent of a separated mass publishing. Celem artykułu jest określenie zmian struktury oraz tempa wzrostu produkcji żywca rzeźnego w województwach Polski w latach 2004–2014 według gatunków, z zastosowaniem klasycznej metody przesunięć udziałów. Ponadto zidentyfikowano i oszacowano udział czynników strukturalnych oraz regionalnych w wielkości efektu globalnego (produkcji żywca rzeźnego w Polsce ogółem) w przekroju województw. Na podstawie wyników badań wykazano, że zróżnicowanie tempa zmian produkcji żywca rzeźnego związane jest przede wszystkim z pozycją konkurencyjną regionu, a w mniejszym stopniu zależne od zmian struktury produkcji

The tombstone has long been neglected by historians. As obituaries and wills, tombstones reveal as much the relationship of the deceased to death that the management of their memory by their heirs. This study first shows the wealth of medieval Burgundy graves goods. Typological diversity adds to the richness of iconography with large amounts of effigial monuments. Tombs materialize burial of prestige. Originally reserved for prelates and princes, burial ad ecclesiam progressively extended to the feudal aristocracy and the bourgeoisie. Vieraiden kielien osaamisen merkitys on kasvanut globalisoituneessa maailmassa. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus on selvittää lukion opiskelijoiden asenteita, kokemuksia, odotuksia ja uskomuksia eri vieraita kieliä kohtaan. Toinen kotimainen kieli lasketaan vieraiden kielten joukkoon tässä tutkimuksessa. Englannin kieli on korostetussa asemassa sen kansainvälisen tärkeyden takia, ja siihen paneudutaan tutkimuksessa muita kieliä enemmän. Celem przeprowadzonych badań była ocena przyrostu stężeń wybranych analitów w próbkach mchów. Badania biomonitoringowe zanieczyszczenia aerozolu atmosferycznego prowadzono na terenie miejscowości Miasteczko Śląskie (województwo śląskie).
